fairOver 900 students and young people from across Wealden, including Crowborough attended the first Wealden Works Careers Fair.

The all day event at Uckfield Civic Centre provided young people aged 14 to 25 a chance to talk to representatives from near 50 businesses and training providers about future career paths.

The event included talks and workshops to help students learn more about what interests them and explore subjects they had not considered before.  A three piece band from Sussex Downs College provided entertainment during the day, and Wealden Electoral Services team took the opportunity to encourage students to take advantage of the new national system of Individual Electoral Registration to sign up to the electoral register.

Councillor Bob Standley, Leader of Wealden District Council said:

The theme for the event is Your Future, Your Choices.  We take the future of young people in Wealden very seriously and we want to give them every chance to help themselves to a brighter future.
