Wealden MP’s Maiden Speech in the Commons

During Nus Ghani’s maiden speech in the House of Commons, the new MP for Wealden joked about her Kashmiri roots and talked about the beauty of the local Sussex countryside, including the Ashdown Forest.

During a debate about the EU Referendum she spoke about not pulling-up the drawbridge.

In the 5 minutes speech in the Commons, she also drew attention to the poor rail service, the issues caused by having Gatwick nearby and mentioned the history of the wartime transmitter near Kingstanding.  She also wove in a quote from Winnie-the-Pooh:

“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”
