Wealden District Council are conducting a review of their Corporate Plan and would like residents and local organisations to spare a few minutes to ranking a series of statements by priority.
There are three tiers of councils covering this area: Crowborough Town Council, Wealden District Council and East Sussex County Council.
Wealden District Council is responsible for the collection of household waste and street cleaning, housing and benefits administration, collection of council tax and business rates, maintaining the electoral roll and running polling stations, operating leisure centres, public and environmental health, planning policy and determining planning applications.
There are four sections in the survey. The introduction to each section includes the following broad statements of intent:
- We want Wealden businesses, communities and residents to thrive and prosper in the District. We are committed to planning and promoting opportunities for sustainable growth.
- Wealden will continue to be a well-run Council, well thought of and respected by our residents, peers and partners.
- We want people in Wealden’s communities to have the opportunity to enjoy an excellent quality of life.
- We are steadfast in our duty and desire to protect Wealden’s beautiful landscape. We want people in Wealden to be able to access and enjoy the outstanding natural beauty and heritage of our landscape and environment, including conservation areas.
Last year they conducted a short review and decided to focus on eight objectives including helping to create new jobs and promoting a better quality of life. The next plan will cover the four year period 2023 to 2027.
Once they have received feedback from residents and stakeholders, the Council will review the information and draft the plan. This will then go to their Cabinet and Full Council for their further input and final agreement.
