We all like to get out of the house, have fun, socialise and enjoy taking part in an engaging activity in our local community.
This might not always be so easy for somebody who is socially isolated or reliant on friends and family but, fortunately, there is a local voluntary group dedicated to providing just that opportunity on a regular weekly basis and it is named, appropriately, Ditch the Slippers.
Ditch the Slippers organises events in Crowborough and in Uckfield for older people who may have some physical or mental health difficulties. The group’s success relies on a small army of volunteers who give their time to support the activities or to provide transport for members. To share the load they would love to have some more volunteers to help at any one of:
- Skittles and Boccia (similar to bowls) on Monday mornings at the United Church in Crowborough;
- A wonderful happy singing group on Thursday mornings in St Richards Church Hall;
- Yoga/Extend exercises on Tuesday mornings at Margaret House in Uckfield.
Without making any commitment, visitors to the groups will be warmly welcomed and will see how much fun everyone has.
Alternatively, if you have an expertise or skill you would like to share with a new group please do get in touch.
