Video: Crowborough Town Council’s Carol Service

3

Normally Crowborough Town Council hold a Carol Service at All Saints Church. This year because of Covid-19 (like lots of things) it has gone virtual.

The service is a combination of readings by Town Councillors and members of local community groups; carols song by the All Saints Church Choir and organist; performances by students; and prayers by Reverend Steve Rees. The words of the carols and prayers appear on screen. It also includes excerpts from Beacon Academy’s Carol Concert.

The video starts with a welcome from Mayor Cllr Greg Rose:

Welcome to this virtual Civic Carol Concert.

In these unprecedented times, at Crowborough Town Council we wanted to continue with a long tradition of holding a Carol Concert to kick-off the festive season.

When so many people are restricted to their homes, and with the majority of festive events that we’ve all come accustomed to being cancelled, I hope this will bring some traditional festive cheer into your homes.

I wish you all a Very merry Christmas and good health to you and your loved ones

  1. Well done team, still firing on all cylinders regardless of all the challenges. Crowborough is still a town to be proud of, I only wish they would stop building shoeboxes in every corner.

  2. Thanks for drawing attention to this, and thanks to the Council and Beacon for making it available for free. Not being able to go to a live carol service at Christmas is yet another deprivation in this strange year. This is a great substitute.

  3. Wow! Absolutely amazing!! We approached with some trepidation as to what virtual might mean but, in reality, the amount of thought and work that obviously went into the production of this has given us a memorable view of the town’s people, especially the children. By including the schools and their artwork has gone far further than the usual event.

Very well done to everyone involved and THANK YOU!!
