On Saturday 13th December, firefighters are inviting locals into the Community Fire Station for mince pies and refreshments, as well as to offer advice and support during the winter season.
There will be a competition for children, who will be asked to spot the potential hazards in the home.
There will also be the chance for horse owners to have their tack marked up for free by Sussex Police. They will also be offering other security marking and advice.
John Haizelden, Red Watch Manager at Crowborough, said:
While we hope people will turn up to have fun, there is also a serious side to all this. The Wealden district has one of the highest numbers of killed or seriously injured in the country. We have attended numerous road traffic incidents involving animals such as deer and horses. This is one of the reasons why we want to help road users to be safe and seen during the winter months.
Firefighters will be on hand during the day to talk about road and home safety, high visibility clothing for cyclists and horse riders. There will be a range of interactive displays throughout the day we look forward to seeing you.
The Seasonal Safety Day is on Saturday 13 December from 10am-4pm at the Crowborough Community Fire Station on Beacon Road in Crowborough.
