Two women convicted of theft and assault


Two women from Tunbridge Wells were convicted this week after they were caught shoplifting at Waitrose in February.

Shardayne Austin (33) and Rosie Smith (40) pleaded guilty to theft, using threatening & abusive language and common assault at Brighton Magistrates Court on Wednesday (1st August).   The women were arrested at Waitrose supermarket in Crowborough on 22nd February 2018.

Miss Austin, c/o Gregswood Road, was fined £100, ordered to pay court costs of £200 and required to pay a surcharge of £85 to fund victim services.  Miss Smith of Sherwood Road, was fined £150, court costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £85.  Community orders were also made requiring each women to participate in rehabilitation activities.
