Over the weekend of 20/21st January, Sussex Police licensing team carried out an operation in the region in relation to the sale of alcohol to young people under the age of 18.
With the assistance of three Police cadets 20 premises in Eastbourne, Lewes and Wealden were tested for their compliance with the laws relating to buying alcohol. Out of the 20 premises, three were responsible for selling alcohol and have been prosecuted.
PC Buck Licensing Officer for Eastbourne, Lewes and Wealden said:
We thank those premises that complied with law but I would like to remind all premises and staff that work within them that this is very much an on-going operation and I hope that this will act as a reminder that the sale of alcohol to young persons will not be tolerated, we will catch you and we will prosecute you.
