Nigel Allison, who has been the Chairman of the Crowborough Branch, has been elected Sussex County Chairman.
Best known for the annual Poppy Appeal, The Royal British Legion provide financial, social and emotional care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces – past and present and their families.
Nigel served for six years in the Royal Air Force before joining the Merchant Navy.
He will be officially sworn in as County Chairman at the Annual General Meeting in January 2020:
I am delighted to be elected the new Sussex County Chairman. I have been Chairman of the Crowborough Branch of The Royal British Legion for the last three years and it is now a strong, vibrant and proactive Branch. I want to carry that on through to County level and, as I am passionate about the Royal British Legion, I will seek to ensure that the ‘Lest We Forget’ motto is not forgotten.
I also feel that the ‘youth’ movements are the future of the Royal British Legion and, being an instructor with the Sea and Air Cadets and closely affiliated to the Army Cadets, I will maintain close contacts with them and encourage them to join the RBL.
The Crowborough Branch meets monthly at 8pm every second Wednesday at the Crowborough and District Social Club opposite Waitrose in Croft Road. For further information look at their Facebook page.
