Woman raped at Chapel Green

Update (4th Sept): Police have now said they are investigating a report of a woman being raped during the early hours of Saturday (31st August) at Chapel Green.

The 23-year-old victim is being supported by specialist officers and detectives are carrying out a number of investigative enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident, which is reported to have happened near St Mary’s Church between 12.30am and 1.30am.

Anyone who has information which can help the investigation are asked to contact detectives quoting Operation Langport.

Queen’s Road at Chapel Green has been cordoned off in Crowborough.

Police have said they are investigating a sexual assault on a 23 year old woman which occurred in the early hours of this morning (Saturday 31st).

The assault occurred in the vicinity of St Mary’s Catholic Church.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Anyone who may have been in the area, and may be able to assist the investigation, are asked to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Langport.

  1. This story makes me feel very sad, Crowborough has always been such a safe place. I have always felt very privileged to have lived in Crowborough I went to Fermor Primary School here worked here for many years and look after my elderly mother knowing she was safe in her own home. I hope the young woman is ok and obviously very shaken up by this incident.
    Hopefully this is one off and encouraging that the Police are dealing with it so quickly.
