The new 228/229 Timetable commending 5th September has just been published on the Seaford & District website: www.seafordanddistrict.co.uk.
On their Facebook page Seaford & District have said they will be taking-over the 228/229 service between Tunbridge and Crowborough in September.
CrowboroughLife revealed at the beginning of the month that Arriva had given notice to East Sussex County Council that they will be withdrawing the service from 3rd September 2016, as they no longer considered the service commercially viable. (See previous article here.)
The news caused anxiety and dismay from passengers who rely on the service to get to work or whose children use the bus to get to school or college in Tunbridge Wells.
An East Sussex County Council spokesman said:
We are delighted to have secured a replacement for the 228/229 bus, working with Seaford & District. We will continue to provide a funding contribution for the service between Crowborough, Jarvis Brook and Alderbrook and will make timetable information available on our website as soon as details have been finalised.
Although there will be slight changes to the new route, the vast majority of users will continue have access to service, which will run from 3rd September 2016.
It is thought that Hill Rise and Medway may not be served in future due to the very small numbers of customers. More information to follow.
