527 on Farningham Road in Crowborough has been broken into for the third time.

On Wednesday thieves used a tool like an angle grinder to cut a way through the building’s wall.

stolen saxophones crowborough break-in 5th April 2017On the first occasion in February, 30 specialist soprano saxophones were snatched by thieves.  In the second raid, earlier this month, a very rare saxophone was stolen.  In the latest robbery, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the culprits made off with around £100,000 worth of instruments.

Police were called to Brooklands Park Industrial Estate in Crowborough at 3.50am on Wednesday (5th April) to a report of a burglary at an industrial unit that sells saxophones.

An alarm at the property was activated at around 3.30am but by the time the business owners arrived those responsible had already made off.  They stole a number of Alto Saxophones which are worth between £2,000 – £3,000 each.

Two holes were also found in the metal perimeter fence.  Due to the number of instruments stolen Police think it is highly probable that the offenders used a van to transport them.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:

This premises has been targeted on three separate occasions during which further instruments have been stolen.  It is possible that the offenders are stealing items on demand as different brands of saxophones have been stolen on different occasions.  Due to the number stolen on each occasion it is also highly likely that they may be using a van to transport the items from the scene.  We would urge anyone who has recently been offered saxophones for sale which may be without a case or reeds, or who was in the area at the time and may have seen something to get in touch.

Two other break-ins have also been reported to police at the same address. The first took place sometime between 5pm on Saturday 18th February and 2pm on Sunday 19th February.  Soprano Saxophones were taken during the break-in.  The second break-in took place at around 3.20am on Monday 3rd March during which a Selmer Paris Limited Edition Alto Saxophone was stolen.
