Saplings vandalised at Crowborough School

Dozens of saplings planted around the playing field at Sir Henry Fermor School have been uprooted in the days before Christmas.

Children, parents and teachers spent a weekend planting the trees in the school grounds a few weeks ago.

The damage to the saplings was reported on Christmas Eve.  A panel in the fencing had been bent back to gain entry to the playing field.  Tree guards can be seen scattered across the field.  Debris has also been thrown onto neighbouring playground at Beacon Academy.

If you know anything about the vandalism you can contact Sussex Police or alternatively you can ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  1. Such a shame (and shameful) that there are some who think this is an amusing way to spend their time. Sympathies to those who worked together to enhance their surroundings and think of the future, compared with those who thought only of their brief, warped, self-gratification.

  2. It’s heartbreaking. I hope it doesn’t dampen the spirits of the children, parents and teachers who had worked so hard to do something nice for everyone.
