The financial help will allow the Rotary Club to organise the get together for 80 people at All Saints Church Hall next August.  During the meal the guests will be entertained by local magician Bertie Pearce performing table magic, with a stage magic show after the meal.

The donation is from the Santander Foundation who make hundreds of grants each year to registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.

Normally the members of the Rotary Club raise the money themselves by having various fund raising activities.

Ray Jackson Community Service Chairman of the Rotary Club of Crowborough said:

We are so grateful to Santander for their generosity which will enable us to fund this event and thus release other Rotary funds to provide other charitable donations to local people and organisations.

Some older people in the community can feel isolated at home and the party allows them to have a evening-out in good company.  The Rotarians collect the invitees and return them after the event to their homes, as well as providing waiter service.

The party consists of a two course meal with wine or soft drinks provided by an outside caterer, who cooks the meal in the kitchen at the Church Hall.Rotary-Club-Wheel

The Rotary Club meet every 1st and 3rd Mondays at Barnsgate Manor Vineyard where we have a simple two course meal, usually followed by a speaker.  The club membership is open to both men and women.

Ray Jackson added:

We need new members in the club to enable us to keep the work of Rotary going in Crowborough as we have done for the last 50 years.  Whilst we involve ourselves in charitable works we also have a strong social calendar which enables members to meet in an atmosphere of friendship and fellowship. The motive for almost all Rotarians being members is to put something back into the community in which we live for the benefit of the community.

Anyone interested in joining the Rotary Club of Crowborough should contact Secretary Malcolm Sanger or President Helen Marshal on 01892 653791.
