Roadworks Rotherfield Road

Update: The work due to have started this week on B2100 Rotherfield Road has been delayed until 1st April.  The kerbing works will now carried out alongside the resurfacing work, to try and minimise disruption to motorists.

Work to resurface B2100 Rotherfield Road from its junction with Crowborough Hill to its junction with Cottage Hill begins on Monday (18th March), with overnight road closures needed for part of the scheme.

Overnight road closures to the B2100 Rotherfield Road from 1st and 18th April 2019

This work will be done in three phases:

  1. Kerbing work takes place between Monday 18th March and Friday 22nd.  This will be carried out during the day  and the road will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place.
  2. Resurfacing work takes place between 1st and 18th April.  This will be carried out overnight and the road will be closed between 8pm and 6pm.  The road will be reopened during the day.  There may be some additional work which will require temporary lights during the day.
  3. Further kerbing work will be carried out between 23rd April and 17th May. The road will remain open but temporary traffic lights will be in place.

An East Sussex Highways spokesman said:

Carrying out this work will enable us to provide a safer and smoother drive for motorists using this popular road.

Any work of this scale will inevitably cause disruption, but we will keep this to a minimum by carrying out the resurfacing work overnight.

Access will be given to residents, where possible, while road closure is in place, but this may be subject to delays.

During the road closures a signed diversion route using the A26, A272 and A267 will be in place.
