The Fairy Godbrothers are a group of friends who don their pink tutus every year to tackle a mud run to raise money to send brave children, who face enormous challenges, on a well deserved break with their families.
This year the Godbrothers are taking on the “NUTS Challenge”, a 7km assault course full of mud and obstacles, to send eight year old Louis Bishop from Crowborough to Centerparcs.
Three years ago the Fairy Godbrothers were set up to help young children to go on fabulous holidays or experiences that they otherwise would not. Each child is different, some have challenges and disabilities that make their lives tougher than most and others have experienced things that many of us wouldn’t have had to until much later in life like the death of a parent. Whatever the reason, the Godbrothers make it their goal to help however they can. They are a merry band of friends who clad themselves in pink (at least until the mud hits them) and take on obstacle courses and mud runs to raise funds.
Andrew and Victoria Edmonds, a local Crowborough family, are involved in the Godbrothers. They said they always make sure that they include a family from the area each year, and for the last 3 years we have helped local children have some amazing experiences. Lauren was sent to Disneyland, and Olivia went to Florida.
Louis Bishop was born 7 weeks premature after an extremely difficult pregnancy, during which he required five in utero blood transfusions to keep him alive. When Louis was 3 days old his parents were told news that Louis had suffered severe brain damage.
Louis is now 8 years old and in the next 6-9 months, he is having major surgery to have metal rods inserted into his spine as it has collapsed and is starting to affect major organs.
Jodie, Louis’ mum, said:
Despite everything Louis has been through, he gives everything a hundred percent and always has the biggest smile for everyone he meets, he loves people and being out about.
We are so grateful to the Fairy Godbrothers. Louis is a very lucky little boy to have so many people looking out for him
The Godbrother next run is at the end of this month when they take on the Nuts Challenge in Dorking. They are looking to raise around £2,500 in total to send young Louis to Centerparcs as well as help another family.
