Help shape the future of Patient Transport Services

The Clinical Commissioning Groups in East Sussex want to hear from people who find it difficult to travel to hospital and doctors appointments.

The High Weald Lewes Havens CCG is working together with the other GP-led bodies which commission healthcare services in East Sussex, to transform the countywide NHS Patient Transport Service.

The Patient Transport Service helps people access appointments, providing some 25,000 journeys per month for people who are unable to use public or other transport owing to medical conditions.

The service is booked by patients through the Patient Transport Bureau and is free for people who meet certain medical criteria which would otherwise prevent them from getting to their appointment.

The current contract for the Patient Transport Service is due to expire soon, so they are taking this opportunity to engage with service users, staff and other interested parties –  listening to their ideas and experiences to inform a specification for a new service.

They want your views on:

  • What works well with the current service?
  • What could be better?
  • What would you change?

The Clinical Commissioning Groups in East Sussex want to hear about and use your experiences, comments and feedback to shape a new patient transport service.  You can either go along to one of their forthcoming events to tell them what you think, and hear how you can be involved in developing our plans.  The nearest ones are in Uckfield and East Grinstead:

  • Friday 16th January, 2-4pm at Weald Hall, Uckfield Civic Centre, Uckfield TN22 1AE.
  • Friday 23rd January, 2-4pm at East Court, East Grinstead RH19 3LT.
