Sadly Stanley Loosley passed away on Monday after catching coronavirus. Stan will be know to many people at Beacon Golf Club and the Probus Club.
At the end of last year, Stan, who was 94, was appointed to the rank of ‘Chevalier in the Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur’ by the President of France. The highest French order of merit recognised his involvement in the Dunkirk landings and the liberation of France.
His daughter Sara Chick said:
He was very independent man and lived with my mother in their own home and was having rehabilitation nurses going in to help him. We were able to see him once in hospital but wasn’t able to be with him when he passed. I am actually frontline ambulance crew I actually took him into hospital while on duty which was very heartbreaking.
He was a true gentleman and deserves an amazing send off, but sadly that can’t happen at the moment as a very limited number of people are allowed to attend funerals.
