The Conservative Party has adopted Nusrat Ghani as their prospective parliamentary candidate for the new constituency of Sussex Weald.
Under boundary changes, the current Wealden constituency is being be split up. Crowborough, along with the majority of the current Wealden seat, would belong to the Sussex Weald constituency. However the area around Uckfield and Forest Row will join East Grinstead.
The Selection Council for the new constituency of Sussex Weald met on Friday 24th February and adopted Nusrat Ghani as its candidate.
Daphne Bagshawe, the Chairman of Wealden Conservatives, said:
Congratulations to Nus.
Nus is an excellent MP for Wealden and the new constituency will be in good hands.
Daphne Bagshawe
At the meeting Nus spoke about the work she has been doing locally and nationally and whilst sad to be losing part of her constituency was looking forward to getting to know the Heathfield area.
The new constituencies come into operation in July this year when the new boundaries are officially announced in Parliament. The date of the next general election has not yet been announced, but has to be before called by December 2024.
now we just need the Greens, Liberals and Labour candidates to decide which of them is going to stand against her and the others step down in order to have any chance of stopping her filling the seat!
Well, Ms Ghani had better find out about Heathfield quickly, as she sure as heck only has until the next election to do so!
