An application for planning permission must be publicised by the local planning authority. From 1st November, the way people will be told about planning applications near where they live will change.
In the past Wealden District Council sent letters through the post to neighbours, although they were not obliged to do so. The statutory requirements require local planning authorities to either display a site notice OR send a neighbour notification letter, Wealden District Council have been doing both. The site notice must be displayed on or near the building or land for not less than 21 days.
Wealden District Council are encouraging members of the public to sign-up for My Alerts in order to find-out about new planning applications in future. Find-out more about the change on the Council’s website: Update on how we notify on Planning Applications.
