Knife point robbery at vape shop

At around 5.30pm yesterday evening (Friday 10th) two young men wearing DIY balaclavas / face masks entered Vapour Style at Crowborough Cross and threatened the owner with a knife.

Vapour Style, 1 Old Bank Chambers, Crowborough

The owner, Lee Silver, was serving a woman customer at the time. One of the youths was carrying a knife, the other a screwdriver.

One suspect is described as 6′, slim, wearing a black zip-up jacket with pockets, black trousers, black trainers and a light pink balaclava with several holes in it.

The other suspect is said to be 5′ 9″, slim and wearing a dark jacket, light blue jeans, dark trainers and a black face mask. He is described as having a street urban / London dialect and carrying a black rucksack.

A driver who was waiting at the traffic lights on London Road, saw the robbery in progress through the window and drove her car onto the pavement outside the shop, to try and block their escape. The thieves took cash, and stole vaping items from the store (mods, e-cigarettes, tanks and liquids) estimated to be worth around £2,000.

After about 5 minutes in the shop they made off across the traffic lights.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

There were reports on social media of armed police searching the town centre.
