Update: Last night BrewBox were chosen to run the kiosk. The Town Council have said the play park will open on Wednesday (10th) at midday.
Councillors agreed that both applicants were of a high standard, and it was a difficult decision to make. Following a history of erratic opening from previous tenants, they felt it was important that there was consistency.
The S&R Committee decided to award the lease to BrewBox. The terms should state the kiosk will open from 10.00am until 5pm, seven days per week in the summer. Shorter hours in the winter months to be agreed, but to the kiosk should open during the Town’s firework display.
Next week Town Councillors will consider two application to operate the kiosk at Goldsmith Recreation Ground in Crowborough.
Amy Glenie, who runs The Blue Anchor pub on Beacon Road has expressed interest. The other proposal is from Brew Box who sell drinks and snacks from a converted horsebox outside Fieldbuss newsagents.
An Extraordinary Meeting of the Sports & Recreation Committee has been called to agree a new tenant to take on the lease, initially for three years.

The adjacent play park is currently being rebuilt at a cost of £120,000 using money from housing developers and a planning application for a bike track is awaiting a decision. The kiosk is in the same building of the public toilets, which the Town Council intends to refurbish in the near future.
Councillors will consider the intended opening hours, proposed menu and benefits to the community.
Amy Glenie in her application states that the “main objective would be to build a loyal customer base and focus on the basics first. All the while focusing on producing great quality food and drinks using local suppliers.” The Blue Anchor also propose holding pop-up events (such as pizzas) on Fridays/Saturdays.
Andrew Fitt explains the kiosk would replicate the menu they offer from the Brew Box London Road. They also mention their support local business and stress their green credentials. Brew Box intend to open the kiosk seven days per week.
