Donna Maria in Crowborough has applied for planning permission to convert the former Burrswood charity shop so that it can open as a takeaway and to provide more seating for the restaurant next door.
The Italian restaurant and pizzeria has proved popular since it opened at 6 The Broadway in September, and the application explains additional seating is required.
The restaurant owners have applied to the planning authority for change of use, so the former charity shop can be used in part as a takeaway and also to extend the restaurant. The two buildings are under the same ownership.
The floor plan submitted to Wealden District Council shows the extended seating area and a food preparation area, with a pizza oven at the rear, connecting to the existing kitchen.
The proposed opening times for the takeaway will be 12noon until 10pm every day. The application argues there will be no implications to the road network, as there is sufficient free car parking nearby.
BurrswoodHealth and Wellbeing centre inGroombridge went into administration last year after ‘unsustainable’ financial losses, and the charity shop in Crowborough closed its doors.
