16 new houses on School Lane

Update:  Crowborough Town Council have proposed the development should be named ‘Horwich Close’ to mark the 25 year anniversary of the twinning.  Horwich already has a street called Crowborough Close.

This evening (Monday 2nd February) the Town Council will consider possible street names for the new houses to be built off School Lane in Crowborough.

Planning permission for the 16 houses at the former Hoppitts Nursery site was granted in 2011 and the landscaping agreed last year.  Now the Town Council will have the opportunity to suggest street names.

Abbey Developments have proposed Nursery Close.  The Planning & Development Committee will consider Gatacre Gardens, Gatacre Close, Laver Close, Bailey Close and Bailey Court.  Miss Laver, A Bailey and Lady Gatacre were all associated with World War I and were added to the Approved Street Name List in September 2014.

Honourable Beatrix Wickens, Lady Gatacre was Commandant of the Harecombe Auxiliary Hospital in Crowborough.

The Planning & Development Committee meet at 7.30pm at the Town Hall.

For more information about the development, see the Wealden District Council website (you need to accept the disclaimer):
