Firefighters from Crowborough’s specialist Animal Rescue Unit came to the assistance of a horse trapped in a ditch down Warren Road yesterday afternoon.
Two crews set to work to free the distressed animal after it was sedated by a vet which enabled firefighters to safely free the six-year-old pony.
The vet was then on hand throughout the rescue and crews left the pony in the safe hands of the vet.
East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service has had confirmation that the pony is doing well.
