Horse killed on Ashdown Forest

A horse died after it was hit by a car on the Ashdown Forest.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at around 3.15pm on the B2188 Church Hill at Friar’s Gate, near Crowborough

The horse had thrown its rider, a teenage girl, and bolted, leaping a bank and colliding with a black Porsche 911 sports car which was travelling in the Groombidge direction along the road.

The duty Forest Ranger and a volunteer ranger attended the accident following a call from one of their mounted rangers.

Sadly the horse was injured and had to be put down by a veterinary surgeon.
