The Great War on the Ashdown Forest


To commemorate the Centenary of the Great War and the 70th Anniversary of D Day in World War II the Nutley Historical Society is running an exhibition which includes photographs and documents from the villages of Ashdown Forest.

WW1The exhibition includes photographs of the military at Forest Row, Maresfield Park and Crowborough Camps during the Great War; details of some of the high ranking military officers who lived in the area at that time; memorials and rolls of honour where known.

The display also commemorates World War II including the Canadian Army presence in the area, the aircraft crashes, the home front, memorials and rolls of honour. In depth information is available in folders.

The exhibition runs the end of October at the Ashdown Forest Centre near Wych Cross.

Summer opening times:

  • Weekdays: 2 until 5pm
    Weekends: 11am until 5pm
