Grants to community groups and organisations


Crowborough Town Council meets this evening to consider allocating up to £50,000 to community groups and organisation which support the local community.

Councillors on the Finance and General Purposes will consider whether to make grants for activities and facilities in the next financial year.  Applications have been received from the following organsations:

  • 1st Crowborough Scouts
  • Age Concern Crowborough & Rotherfield 55+
  • Crowborough Arts – community organisation promoting the arts locally
  • Crowborough Bonfire & Carnival Society
  • Home Start East Sussex – supports families with children under 5
  • Jarvis Brook Community Hub
  • The Crowborough Players – local theatre group
  • The Society of Friends of Montargis
  • Vitalise – a charity which provides short breaks and respite care for people with physical disabilities

Representatives from the groups and organisation will be permitted to address the Councillors in support of their applications.

Crowborough Town Council financially supports Clued-up.Info and Wealden Citizens Advice.  Clued-up.Info provides information and advice to young people at its drop-in centre on The Broadway in Crowborough.  Wealden Citizens Advice has a  bureaux in Crowborough on Croham Road.

Crowborough Town Council has rolling three-year Service Level Agreements with these organisations to allow them to plan ahead.  Councillor will review progress reports from the two organisations to decide whether performance indicators are being met, before confirming next year’s grant.

The Finance and General Purposes Committee meets on Tuesday 4 November at 7.30pm at Crowborough Town Hall.
