On Tuesday Wealden District Council’s free Fun and Safety event returns to Crowborough Community Centre.
Fun and Safety is a winning mix of fun and learning through interactive displays to promote safety at home, on the road and when out and about. Attractions include a children’s entertainer, penalty shoot-out competition, badge-making, face-painting and crafts. There is also the chance to sit in a fire engine or a police car.
Councillor Claire Dowling, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Community Safety said:
Last year over 300 people attended Fun & Safety in Crowborough and we expect even more this time. These events go from strength to strength! It’s a great chance for children to enjoy a wide range of activities and attractions and it really is a good day out.
Fun and Safety is free and open to all ages but children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.
East Sussex Fire Service will be offering parents and carers the opportunity to sign up for free home safety fire checks and Wealden District Council will be promoting its children’s home safety equipment scheme.
To keep energy levels topped up, fruit for all the children attending has been kindly donated by Waitrose.
The event is organised by officers from Wealden’s Community and Regeneration Team with the support of a wide range of partners including East Sussex Fire and Rescue, Sussex Police, Freedom Leisure, Active Play, and Wealden Children Centres.
At Uckfield’s event last week, over 900 people went along to the fire station. During one of the demonstrations, firefighters showed how they cut somebody out of a car crash.
Crowborough’s few Fun and Safety event is on Tuesday 15th April 15, at Crowborough Community Centre in Pine Grove from 10:30am to 1pm.
