Offices in town to be converted into living accommodation

A planning application has been submitted to convert offices, towards the rear of the building occupied by Cubitt & West on London Road, into flats.

The applicant, J & PB Management Limited in Rotherfield, want to extend the ground floor at the rear of the property and convert offices into a bedsit and a two-bedroomed flat.  Planning permission was granted in 2011 to build a two-storey extension to provide office accommodation on the ground floor and a two-bedroomed flat above.  If this application (Ref: WD/2016/0473/F) is given the go-ahead, there will be four flats in total in the building, each having their own private entrance.

There will be no change to the estate agents at the front of the building.

There seems to be a growing trend towards converting offices to residential buildings in the town to help satify demand for smaller properties.  Another application for change of use, to allow offices above Café Baskerville to be converted into apartments, is also being considered by the planning authority (Ref: WD/2016/0136/P01).  One of the issues the planners will have to give serious consideration to, is where residents will park their cars.

  1. it concerns me at the lack of parking – – waitrose car park will be used for lomg stay, plus the reduced parking at pine grove will be an added problemwhere do you sggest these cars will go?
