East Sussex Fire Authority have voted in favour of relocating their headquarters from Eastbourne to Lewes, to share the Police HQ site.
The move will result in closer working relationships between the Fire & Rescue Service and SussexPolice and in turn this will create operational benefits, improved communications and a reduction in estate costs over the medium to longer term.
The current HQ building in Eastbourne is owned by the Authority and steps will be taken to achieve the best value option in regard to its disposal.
It is estimated that the move to Lewes will take place over the next 12-18 months.
