Crowborough’s book club, called Fiction Addiction, is looking for new members.
The book club has been running for about two years now, and meets on a Monday evening at the new Community Centre on Pine Grove.
Denise King from the club explains how books are selected:
Books are nominated by members, either because they have already read the book, or had it recommended, and we compile a list at the beginning of the year, so that books that might take longer to read can be placed at the end of the year, and members can start reading well in advance.
We have produced a list of generic questions to ask to aid discussion, and we now have a choice of two books each month – some members will have read only one book, other’s both. We usually start the evening with tea/coffee.
The club regularly has 12 – 15 members at each meeting. They have also had an Author to speak to them, and arranged a theatre trip to see one of his books being performed in Tunbridge Wells. Books which they’ll be discussing later this year include Ken Follett’s “World Without End”, Kate Summerscale’s “The Suspicions of Mr Whicher” and Stephen King’s Misery.
Denise said:
New members are always welcome, at present we only have one male member, so any men who would like to join, I am sure he would welcome some company.
The Fiction Addition Book Club meets on the last Monday of the month (except Bank Holidays) at Crowborough Community Centre at 8pm. When the last Monday in the month is a Bank Holiday, they meet on the previous Monday instead.
