On Saturday there is a Family Fun Day at the Miniature Railway at Goldsmiths.

Pictured at the opening of the Crowborough Lions Viaduct from left to right are (in yellow tops) Lions Frank Lees, Alan Cridland, David Martin, Brian Meyers & President Hilary Lyon together with Locomotive Society members Deryck Munk, Graham Fry, Malcolm Barmby & Neville Watts (both seated), Peter Cavill and Malcolm Plaice.

Lions and Crowborough Locomotive Society steam ahead

In recognition of Crowborough Lions’ longstanding support of the Crowborough Locomotive Society both organisations have arranged a family fun day at the newly extended Miniature Railway track at Goldsmiths Recreation Ground on Saturday 1st September from 11am to 4pm.

The star attraction will of course be the exciting train rides on the new track but popcorn and candyfloss will be on hand and everyone can test themselves with the Lions’ Crossbow Challenge.  The Lions bookstall will transfer from its usual Saturday morning location outside the post office to the railway for those who enjoy our paperback selection.

Members of the Model Boat Club will also be in attendance demonstrating some of their more unusual boats on Goldsmiths pond.  Crowborough Lions Club intends the day to be a family occasion so why not bring the children along as a special treat before it’s ‘back to school’ the following week.
