Update: Emma came third in the World Championships with a golf score of 96 and a time of 1:08:27 – making a speedgolf score of 164:27. Read Emma’s Blog here.
Emma Morgan, who is a member of Crowborough Beacon Golf Club, is competing in the World Speedgolf World Championships in Chicago.
Emma was crowned British Champion in August when she won the first ever female event at Dale Hill between Flimwell and Ticehurst. This earned her a qualifying place at the World Championship. The event is being held in Chicago today and tomorrow (19th and 20th October).
Emma only took-up Speedgolf in June after a free taster session. With work commitments and being a busy mum, she finds that Speedgolf suits her lifestyle better.
In speedgolf the player’s score is the sum of the total shots plus your time taken to run the course. Emma won the British Championships by shooting 88 in 64 minutes and 22 seconds – giving her a speedgolf score of 152:22.
As Emma has played regular golf at County level and plays off a 6 handicap, British Speedgolf’s blog thinks Emma’s challenge will be the running:
Whilst she is a single figure handicapper, she is not a distance runner and she will be up against much more experienced Speedgolfers, but we know she has the skill and determination to do well and we wish her every success!

Emma’s round in Chicago starts at around 6pm. You can follow the World Championships here.
