North Wealden Community Transport Partnership provides community transport services in the North of the district.
They run a door-to-door shopping service called Wealdlink to Crowborough, Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne. The services are for anyone who has difficulty accessing normal service buses because of age or disability for example. The minibuses collect passengers from their home and drop them immediately outside supermarkets so they can do their week’s grocery shopping.
Although they receive some financial support from East Sussex County Council, Crowborough Town Council and Parishes in the area, as a charity they are supported by a team of volunteer drivers, passenger assistants and office staff.
Wealdlink are currently looking for additional drivers who have some spare time to operate a regular service or alternatively might be willing to drive occasionally for outings or provide cover.
Graham is a volunteer driver from Five Ash Down:
My mother used the service for years and we were very grateful for it, as it got her out of the house. It was more of a social outing than just a shopping trip. So after she passed away, I thought it was time to give something back. I volunteer once or twice a week and really enjoy it.
