East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service was called about a small fire in a shop front in Crowborough in the early hours of this morning (Friday 27th).
Crews from Crowborough and Mayfield were dispatched to the incident at ZIY & Barbers on London Road near Crowborough Cross at 12.14am.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
Fire damage was confined to the front door and the carpet just inside it, and smoke affected the inside of the premises, which were unoccupied at the time.
A fire investigation took place and the ESFRS concluded the fire was started deliberately. The incident has been handed-over to Sussex Police and a scenes of crime officer has been gathering evidence.
