Crowborough Town Council will be holding their first remote council meeting on Monday.
Up until now all scheduled committee meetings have been cancelled because of the pandemic.
The Planning & Development Committee meeting will be held on Monday 11th May starting at 7.30pm.
The agenda includes a request by Catesby to increase the number of dwellings it is allowed to build on land North of Walshes Road. Since the application was approved the emerging Local Plan has been withdrawn. Catesby now want to increase the limit from 85 to 100.
The Town Council is a statutory consultee, which means that the local planning authority (Wealden District Council) must consult them on planning applications within the parish. However, the final decision about whether or not to grant permission is taken by Wealden District Council’s Planning Committee North.
Also on the agenda is the re-submission of an application to knockdown a bungalow on Warren Road and replace it with two 4-bedroomed houses, and the construction of a bungalow in the back garden of a house on Blackness Road.
You can download a copy of the agenda on the Planning and Development Committee webpage. Members of the public may attend the meeting remotely. To do so, please email email@example.com to request login details.
Wealden District Council held its first online meeting on 23rd April. The meeting of their Planning Committee South discussed three applications, including one for 10 new flats in Hellingly. There will be a meeting of the North Committee using Microsoft Teams on Thursday 14th May, but the three applications under consideration are in Uckfield and include changing the courtyard shops at Trading Boundaries near Sheffield Park into bed and breakfast accommodation.
Meetings of Crowborough’s Planning & Development Committee on 30th March and 20th April were cancelled because of the pandemic. Other Crowborough committee meetings that have been cancelled are: Communications & Events on 5th May, Environment on 31st March, Finance & General Purposes on 28th April and Personnel on 14th April.
A remote Full Council meeting will take on the 26th May. Normally each year at the Annual Statutory Meeting (ASM) in May, the Council elects a Mayor and Deputy Mayor, as well as the committee chairs for the next 12-months. Legislation has been put in place so that Councils do not have to hold an ASM this year, but it is for individual Councils to decide what they wish to do.
