Crowborough school gets new name

The new school, formed when Whitehill Infant’s School and Herne Junior School are merged in September, it will be called Ashdown Primary School.

The chosen name received the most responses in a survey with parents, staff and pupils.

Stuart Gallimore, Director of Children’s Service at East Sussex County Council has formally approved the name and commented that he thought it was a very good choice of name.

The all-through primary school will come into effect at the start of the next school year.  Formally Herne Junior School will close on 31st August 2015 and the upper age limit at Whitehill Infant School changed from 4-7 to 4-11 years with effect from 1st September 2015.

Ashdown Primary School will continue to operate from both existing sites on Herne Road and Luxford Road.
