Parents deny killing baby daughter

The Crowborough parents accused of killing their eight-week-old baby daughter last year, have denied all charges brought against them.

Michael Roe, 32, of Alderbrook Close, and Tiffany Tate, 21, of no fixed address, appeared at Lewes Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing.

Michael Roe has been charged with murder of a child under one year old between 8th and 11th September 2018, wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Roe appeared via video link from prison, and pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.

The court heard that Tiffany Tate, who was originally charged with causing or allowing the death, has been additionally charged with the baby’s murder. She appeared in the dock and pleaded not guilty to all charges against her.

An ambulance was called to the house in the early hours of Monday 10th September 2018 to treat baby Holly Roe because she was suffering breathing difficulties. She was taken to Pembury Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A post-mortem showed that the cause of death was a traumatic head injury.

A trial date has been set for March 2020.
