Crowborough man jailed after driving whilst disqualified

Christopher Pope, 36, of Alderbrook Close in Crowborough has been jailed for 8 weeks after admitting he was driving over the drink-drive limit, whilst disqualified and without proper insurance.

He was arrested after he failed to stop for police whilst driving a Fiat Punto on Tuesday 3rd April along Blackness Road.

He pleaded guilty at Brighton Magistrates Court on Thursday 5th April.

Mr Pope had previously been given a suspended sentence on 15th December when he was stopped by police and charged with damaging a vehicle on Southridge Rise.  On that occasion he refused to take a blood test to see if he had been drinking.

In addition to his jail sentence, he can not obtaining a new licence for 3 years and 4 months.  He will be required to pass an extended driving test (taking both theory and practical tests).
