An investigation into alleged firearms offences has resulted in the arrest of a man who had been wanted by Police since the execution of a warrant at a property in Crowborough last year.
Stephen Berry, also known as Stephen Waterman, was detained at East Hill Farm Caravan Park in Sevonoaks, in the early hours of Friday 22nd June 2018.
The 65-year-old had been wanted since four firearms and a large number of shotgun cartridges were discovered inside a large wooden crate at a property in Crowborough on Tuesday 20th June 2017.
Mr Berry was subsequently charged with the following offences:
- Possessing a pump action shotgun that had been shortened contrary to the Firearms Act 1968;
- Two counts of possessing a shotgun without a certificate;
- Possessing a double-barrelled shotgun that had been shortened contrary to the Firearms Act 1968.
Mr Berry was remanded in custody by Canterbury magistrates at a hearing on Saturday 23rd June 2018 and will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday 20th July.
