According to the latest Government data, 14 people from Crowborough have sadly passed away from coronavirus (Covid-19) by the end of May.
There are three geographic areas covering Crowborough used for reporting ONS statistics. They are:
- Crowborough Whitehill and Warren: 12 confirmed deaths
- Crowborough South East: 1 confirmed death
- Crowborough North East: 1 confirmed death
46,687 deaths occurred in England and Wales between 1st March and 31st May that involved the coronavirus. This is about a quarter of deaths by all causes.
Taking into account the age structure of the population, there were 81.2 deaths involving Covid-19 per 100,000 people in England and Wales.
In Wealden the age-standardised mortality rate was considerably lower at 44.1 per 100,000 overall (2.9 in March, 26.7 in April & 14.5in May).

In the period, London had the highest mortality rate, with 137.6 deaths per 100,000 persons. However, the capital is now experiencing lower mortality rates compared with most areas. The highest mortality rates are currently in the North East.

Notes: Coronavirus was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor. Deaths between 1st March and 31st May and were registered by 6th June. When reporting by local authority area, to allow comparison, rates have been adjusted to reflect the age structure of the local population. Data released by the ONS on 12th June.
