Crowborough Carnival and Bonfire Society have regretfully decided to cancel this year’s celebrations. The carnival was that were due to take place on Saturday 11th September.

The Committee made their announcement on Facebook yesterday. Chairman Nigel Cassford said:
The decision was not an easy one to make but because of the present pandemic with so many uncertainties and no one quite sure what was around the corner we thought for everyone’s safety it was best to cancel this years celebrations.
In the meantime we hope you all remain safe and hopefully we will be back next year bigger and better to give you a day you deserve.

Fireworks (5th November)
Crowborough Town Council’s Communications & Events Committee meet tomorrow evening (Tuesday 6th July) and they will discuss the firework dislay at Goldsmiths. The officer’s report states that:
At this time it is looking positive that the event will be able to go ahead as planned. Depending on the exact restrictions released before the event will determine what mitigating measures will need to be put in place for the event.

At their last meeting in April, committee members agreed to offer the supplier Pyrovision a 50% deposit at confirmation of booking with the proviso that the Council could cancel up to 30 days before the event without becoming liable for the remainder of the cost.
Councillors have also asked for the use of Silent fireworks to be investigated for a future event.
