Crowborough Bridge Club is launching a new Friday afternoon session starting next month.
They are also holding a ‘Everything Chocolate’ evening on Monday 24th February, to which guests are invited to join them and to play without table fees.
As Ash Wednesday is on the 26th, the evening is an opportunity to indulge before the start of Lent. There will be a selection of delicious treats to enhance the usual refreshments and also prizes to be won. The session starts at 7.15pm.
Chairperson, Linda Reed, said:
We are a very friendly club, and always look forward to welcoming new members and visitors. Do look on our website for details about how to find a partner.
What is Bridge
It is based on the game of whist; the difference being that each pair bid to play the hand. The cards are dealt to the players, and then the players specifying how many tricks the pair needs to take to receive points for the deal. During the auction, partners communicate information about the strength of their hand.
Crowborough Bridge Club play duplicate bridge, a variant in which the cards are not re-dealt on each occasion, but the same deal is played by two or more sets of players (or “tables”) to enable comparative scoring.
Crowborough Bridge Club meets three times. The Club currently meet on Monday & Friday evenings at 7.15pm and Thursday afternoons at 1.15pm in Meeting Room 1 at the Community Centre on Pine Grove. The new Friday afternoon sessions are for a trial period, initially from February to June. They will also start at 1.15pm.
