Crowborough Arts the community organisation which organises literary, craft and drama exhibitions and workshops in the town, is planning an event in September to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War.
The commemoration, to be held on the 20th September at St Denys’ Church in Rotherfield, will draw on material from Sussex and will include drama, poetry, music and projected images.
The organisers are looking for people interested in singing in the choir at the events. Christine Roberts from the Literary Events Group said:
Music will play an important part in the programme and under the direction of Chris Harris we are looking to form a mixed voice choir of up to 50 voices. We are using the shorter vocal suite of “The Armed Man” (A Mass for Peace) by Karl Jenkins.
The choir will rehearse on:
Tuesday 29th July, 19th August, 26th August and 9th September and Thursday 18th September. There will also be a dress rehearsal on Friday 19th September at 8pm for a run of the music. All rehearsals are from 7.45-9.15pm at St Denys’Church, Rotherfield.
If you would like to find out more about singing in the choir please speak to Christine Roberts on 01892 853159, or see the Crowborough Arts website.
