A teacher, who lives in Jarvis Brook, and a charity set-up by two mum’s from Crowborough, have been announced as finalists in the Uckfield FM Community Awards.
Alex Baptie, Deputy Head Teacher at Nutley Church of England Primary School, has been nominated in the Teacher of the Year category.
Alex has been deputy Head Teacher at Nutley for the last four years. Before joining Nutley Alex was a teacher at Jarvis Brook School.
The Parents and Friends Association at Nutley School nominated Alex for the Teacher of the Year award, because he goes above and beyond his day-to-day duties and really cares for the children.
I’m very flattered to have been nominated for this award alongside the other two finalist, and grateful to have been shortlisted. I am very lucky to work at such a lovely school with wonderful children, very supportive parents, and an amazing staff team.
I was absolutely speechless when I received the news that I was put forward for this award. It’s a privilege to be a part of the Nutley community, and this is recognition of everyone involved with the school.
The two other finalists in the teacher category are Charlotte Vickery from Bonners Primary School in Maresfield and Claire Rivers from St Marks Primary School in Hadlow Down.
Baby2Baby and Beyond, set up last year by Hannah Powell and Leila Parke, is shortlisted in the Charity of the Year category. Baby2Baby collects donations new and quality used baby clothing, and other essentials, and redistributes them to people in need.
The Uckfield FM Community Awards take place at The East Sussex National on Friday 8th November. See their website for further information and names of the finalists in the other categories: www.uckfieldfm.co.uk.
