Business Start-up Workshop

Of the 7,000+ businesses in Wealden over three quarters of them employ less than four people.

With this statistic, undoubtedly small businesses are vital to the local economy.

However it is thought over 50% of new start-ups fail within their first couple of years, and a common reason for failure is not having done adequate market research to see if your idea will work.  Benjamin Franklin supposedly once said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”   A business plan is important even if you aren’t seeking external finance, and how to write a good plan is one of the areas covered in a free session in Crowborough in May.

The workshop at Crowborough Fire Station, will guide people thinking of setting-up their own company through the key stages of the start-up process.  Delegates will enjoy support and advice from an experienced business adviser on the essential steps to ensure they get their business off to the right start.   The workshop will cover a range of areas including:

  • Sourcing finance
  • Managing Cash Flow
  • Meeting your legal obligations
  • Taxation and VAT
  • Marketing

The workshop is delivered by Edeal (Eastbourne & District Enterprise Agency Ltd) in association with Wealden District Council and is free of charge to clients living in Wealden.

The workshop is on Tuesday 5th May and will be held in the Community Training Room at the Crowborough Fire Station on Beacon Road.  The workshop starts at 10am and lasts until 4/4.30pm.
