Beacon oversubscribed for September 2017

Today parents will find-out whether their child has been allocated their first choice of school.

Beacon Academy has been informed by East Sussex County Council that they are significantly oversubscribed for Year 7 places this September, having received over 300 applications against the school’s planned admission number of 220.

Headteacher Ms Anna Robinson has said:

We are of course delighted to be full for September 2017 but also appreciate that there are a number of parents in our local community who are still hoping for their child to join Beacon in September 2017.  We are currently working alongside East Sussex County Council and parents to ensure that we can accommodate this upsurge in applications. With this is mind I would encourage those parents and children who might not have considered Beacon previously, or may be disappointed with their allocation to book an appointment to see Beacon in action on the morning of Tuesday 7th March where there will be an opportunity to see us during a normal working day. Furthermore you will be able to meet with me, our Head of Year 7 Mrs Bodman and our Assistant Head of Year 7 Miss McCormack alongside other members of our Senior Team. I look forward to welcoming you to Beacon next Tuesday.

In East Sussex 85% got their 1st choice of secondary school place, 7% their second choice and 2% their 3rd choice.
