Allowance for being a Councillor to go up by £37

The Finance & General Purposes Committee has voted to increase the allowance paid to Crowborough Town Councillors by £37.

In the last two financial years, Councillors have chosen to go without an increase keeping their allowance frozen at the 2012/13 level.

However this time a majority of Councillors voted in favour of accepting the recommendation by the Wealden Parish Remuneration Panel.  Councillor Paul Adams voted against accepting the recommendation and Councillor Kay Moss abstained.

in 2015/16 each Councillor will be entitled to receive a basic allowance of £1,212 and the next Mayor an additional allowance of £1,615.  Councillors co-opted onto the Council, that is unelected to fill a vacancy, do not receive an allowance.
