Crowborough Community First Responders (CFRs), a group of volunteers who are specially trained to assist the ambulance service, have been honoured with the annual Rotary Club’s “Citizens Award”.
Crowborough CRFs were given the award for “dedication and service to provide life saving assistance to the people of Crowborough”.
You can meet members of Crowborough CFRs at the Summer Fun Day in the town centre on Saturday (31st May). They are the Chamber of Commerce’s chosen charity this year, and will receive all the money donated at this year’s event.
Over recent years the Rotary Club of Crowborough have made this presentation to groups and individuals who have served the local community.
In 2010, the award went to Peter S Perrett , who founded the Crowborough and District Junior Football Leaque. Elizabeth Pettitt was the recipient in 2011 for dedication and service to the scouting movement in Crowborough over a period of 35 years. Gill Pike won in 2012 in recognition and thanks for many years of unstinting valuable service to many organisations in the village of Rotherfield and the surrounding area.
Last year Frank Sellens was awarded the ” Citizens Award”for his dedication in being the Church Organist and Choirmaster at St Michaels & All Angels, Withyham for an unbroken period of 50 years.
Malcolm Sanger, Honorary Secretary of the Rotary Club of Crowborough, said:
We would welcome suggestions from members of the public for our award next year. Also we would love to hear from people who are interested in getting involved in our work, and joining the active social programme.
Rotary Club of Crowborough was chartered over 60 years ago. Members meet on a regular basis for social events and to plan projects that will benefit the lives of people both in the Crowborough area and abroad. Upcoming social events include a BBQ and Barn Dance.
